Customer Reviews about CI Dentistry

My boyfriend is terrified of the dentist. I am talking TERRIFIED! Just getting him to get in the car to come to an appointment was a feat in and of itself. But, after a broken molar, he knew that he had to make an appointment as soon as possible. He does not have health insurance so he decided to google local dentists. The first one, with the highest rating (probably from their own employees) popped up as CI dental. To make this long story short, the dentist determined that he would need to have the tooth extracted. After weeks of anxiety (since the dentist was off for vacation for a week and had no appointments when she got back), it was finally the day to have the tooth pulled. I took off work and went with him to calm his nerves. The beginning of the appointment went smoothly. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The facility was beautiful and had very advanced technology. Each exam room had a window that overlooked the street. Even though my boyfriend was nervous, the atmosphere and the staff really calmed his nerves. Then the dentist came into the room... The second Dr. Infante walked into the room, the entire atmosphere was darkened. She was the most insincere and rude dentist I have ever encountered. She made no mind to calm his obvious nerves, but instead told my boyfriend to more or less suck it up with her insincere tone. Not exactly what someone with anxiety wants to hear. She never explained any part of the procedure. She tilted back the chair and blatantly moved in for the numbing shots of Novocain. She stuck him with a needle and when he jumped out of his seat, she scolded him for moving, since she would have to re poke him again. She proceeded to move in and go for the next shot and when he flinched and muttered a curse word under his breath, she again scolded him that this type of language was inappropriate in her office. Let me take a moment to point out that this curse was in no way directed at any person in the office. It was an honest and earnest reaction to a painful and nerve wracking situation. So, up to this point, I was cutting the dentist a break. I know she sees a lot of people a day and I understand that it makes her job more difficult when someone does not cooperate in their care. In fact, I was in the room trying to console my boyfriend and calms his nerves in attempts to smooth everything over for everyone involved. It was after the last painful shot and scolding my boyfriend jumped up from the chair and exclaimed that he needed a moment to compose his nerves. She was obviously frustrated and began to take off her gloves. When I asked if I could go and talk to him and try to calm him down to come back, she told me that she would not work on him anymore because of his uncooperative nature. She further began to scold me and my relationship that the entire situation was "all my fault" and I was an enabler because I "babied" my boyfriend. Needless to say, things escalated from there. After muttering some of my own foul language (that was much more targeted than my boyfriend's) I demanded a refund for a procedure that would no longer be taking place today. I told her that it is rude and unprofessional to be casting judgment of a patient's relationship or coping methods while under her care. Regardless of her degree or stature in the dentistry field, she has absolutely no right to tell people what and how they should feel. In my opinion a good dentist would be one who could explain and calm each individual patient based on their concerns and fears. I am not one who typically makes bad reviews, or reviews of any nature. I felt inclined to make potential customers aware of the lack of care and compassion that you will receive if you still decide to book an appointment with CI dentistry.
